SHoP Architects

Since 1996, SHoP has modeled a new way forward with its unconventional approach to design. At the heart of the firm’s method is a willingness to question accepted patterns of practice, coupled with the courage to expand, where necessary, beyond the architect’s traditional roles. As a founding Principal, Gregg Pasquarelli has led many of SHoP’s most prominent and high-profile projects, including the revolutionary Barclays Center arena in Brooklyn, the 1,400-foot-high residential tower under construction now at 111 West 57th Street in Manhattan, the South Street Seaport and master plan for the East River Waterfront promenade, and the Midtown Center in Washington, DC, the largest commercial development underway now in the nation's capital. Gregg is a fellow of the National Academy, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Architectural League of New York. He has served as the Saarinen Professor of Architecture at Yale University, and has also held teaching positions at Columbia University, the University of Virginia, Syracuse University, and the University of Florida. Gregg’s commitment as an educator demonstrates his dedication to impacting his field, challenging a new generation of architects to understand that beautiful, innovative architecture and technological proficiency are not mutually exclusive.
