Matthew Cherwin is the Treasurer and Chief Investment Officer of JPMorgan Chase & Co. and a member of the Firm-wide Risk Committee. In this role, Matt oversees the Treasury and Chief Investment Office responsible for managing the firm’s balance sheet, capital, liquidity and funding as well as the firm’s investment portfolio.
Matt joined J.P. Morgan in 2006 as the Head of Asset-Backed Trading and Syndicate and then served as Head of Securitized Products from 2010 through April 2014. From 2014-2019, Matt was Co-Head of Global Spread Markets which covered Securitized Products, Public Finance, Credit Trading and Global Syndicate. In the CCB, Matt and his team oversaw Chase Home Finance’s retained mortgage portfolios; mortgage servicing rights (MSR) and related rate setting, hedging and risk management strategies.
Prior to joining the firm, Matt spent 10 years at Citigroup where he was a Managing Director trading asset-backed and residential mortgage loans and securities.
Matt received a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of Business at The University of Pennsylvania and currently serves as a member of the board of overseers of the School of Social Policy and Practice at the University of Pennsylvania. He lives in New York with his wife and three children.
