With more than 25 years in the hospitality industry, Florencia Tabeni has earned her place as an effective and respected leader.

Florencia was appointed Vice President of Operations and Development for the MDM Hotel Group in August of 2016. In her role she oversees the operations, sales and revenue strategies, property renovations and designs for all of the company’s hotels and restaurants.

From January 2009 to August 2016, Florencia served as the General Manager for the JW Marriott Marquis Miami and Hotel Beaux Arts Miami, overseeing both hotels openings in 2010. In mid-2012, she was nominated as one of the city’s most Influential Business Women in The South Florida Business Journal. In 2014, Florencia won the Gold Medal Award, an award based on successful business leadership, by Miami Today. 

In its first year of operation, the JW Marriott Marquis Miami earned Marriott’s Best New Product award as well as awards for design and technology. JW Marriott Marquis Miami has won JW Marriott Hotel of the Year by Marriott International for 2012, 2013 and 2014. In 2012, Florencia received the prestigious East Region General Manager of the Year award from Marriott International.

Prior to her tenure at the JW Marriott Marquis Miami and Hotel Beaux Arts, Ms. Tabeni served as General Manager for the JW Marriott Hotel Miami which was crowned Hotel of the Year by Marriott International in 2008.

Early in her career, Florencia held executive positions at the JW Marriott Hotel Rio de Janeiro and Plaza Hotel Buenos Aires.

Florencia has a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management from the Universidad Nacional de Quilmes, Argentina and successfully completed the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration General Manager Program. In 2017, she completed the University of Miami’s Interior Design Certification program. 

In 2019, she joined the University of Miami’s Master of Real Estate Development and Urbanism Advisory Board. A member of the General Manager Advisory Board for Marriott International, Florencia also serves as an Executive Member of the Board of Directors for the Greater Miami and the Beaches Hotel Association and is an active member of the International Women’s Forum. In early 2020, Florencia accepted a leadership position as Chair of the Board of the Greater Miami and the Beaches Hotel Association.

Florencia works to benefit her community in various ways including participating in environmental activities, minority advancement projects and programs that work to bring opportunity to under-privileged areas.
